I am not sure it is buddhism or taoism who promote the sould changing ceremony..They claim that the monk can help you change your bad luck soul to good luck soul...err well not necessarily good..but they just change it...There is no scientific proof to this but we believers ussually just do it..

Guan Yin Statue in Kek Lok Si Temple Penang. This is one sad place to be.

When i was here 20 years ago it was a lively place with many devotee..now it is like a vacant building. When they started constructed of this temple years ago..the "local" people complaint and claimed that the construction of the Guan Yin is too huge and the shadow from the goddess of mercy actually cover one of the mosque and the original plan have to be abort and the statue end up constructed much more lower than the original intended plan. Then it also receive numerous objection the "local" people there. Years later the Guan Yin Statue start to "dismantle" on its own. The lower part of the statue is slowly falling aparts as some people claim that the GOD have left that place knowing the "local" people do not welcome Guan Yin.

The old Guan Yin Statue being cut in half and left as one of the remaining of the Temple.
